Meaningful Environmental Movement on Ayancık Beach

As the Sinop Youth, Education and Entrepreneurship Association, we have added another initiative to our efforts to raise environmental awareness and contribute to a sustainable future. Through active and interactive collaboration with the University Green Step Student Club, we organized a beach cleanup event as part of the "From Coast to Summit Climate and Nature Awareness Movement" project.

In this organization, realized with the support of UNIDES and the valuable contributions of Ayancık Municipality, our association volunteers and university students worked shoulder to shoulder. Throughout the event, general litter collection was carried out along the Ayancık beach, with particular attention paid to cigarette butts, which contribute significantly to environmental pollution.

By collecting cigarette butts, which take years to decompose in nature and cause irreparable damage to the marine ecosystem, the aim was to create strong environmental awareness among both the local population and the participating youth. In this project, which showcases one of the most fruitful examples of cooperation between civil society, universities, and the public sector, we once again emphasized that protecting nature is a shared responsibility that we cannot postpone.

We extend our sincerest thanks to the young environmental volunteers of the Green Step Student Club, who collaborated with our association on this valuable project, as well as to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ayancık Vocational School administration, and the Ayancık Municipality for their support.

As a civil society organization, we will continue to resolutely protect our nature, support the environmental vision of our youth, and take "green steps" together.
